The Gym

Welcome to the Still Elementary Physical Education Department

We hope you have a great summer!

Please review the dress code!

Coach B and Mrs. Quick are back and ready to go!  Safety is our top priority.  Please ensure that your child has proper rubber soled shoes.  NO HEELS OR OPENED TOE SHOES.  With field trips and schedule changes, keeping a pair of shoes in your child’s book bag will eliminate confusion and lack of preparedness.

Water bottles are always welcome, please put your students name on them!  During the warmer months, hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen are appropriate.  Please label all items

We will have Walking Club and Walk to School Wednesdays.  Please Click on the above tabs for more information.

If your student is sick or hurt and cannot participate, PLEASE SEND A NOTE WITH A DATE WHEN THEY CAN RETURN AND PARTICIPATE.

Mission

The mission of the Physical Education Program at Still Elementary is to provide students with the opportunities to develop the skills, knowledge, motivation, and behaviors that lead to the adoption of a physically active and healthy lifestyle.

Vision

The vision of Still Elementary Physical Education Program is to promote a healthy and active lifestyle within our school and community focusing on self- control, good choices, and problem solving.

PE Behavior Management Plan

The new behavior program in the gym is focusing on baseball.  For teams with great behavior, they will earn a base. Once teams have earned a trip around the bases, they will earn a choice day.  The teams are the classes that come to the gym together.  To earn a base, everyone has to be part of the team.  We all need to do our part so we can be successful.

Eagle Award Given at the end of every class

One student in each class that focuses and demonstrates responsible behaviors

Behavior Expectations

Respect others and equipment

Be safe by demonstrating self-control

Try your best

Take responsibility for your learning and behavior

Fitnessgram

What is Fitnessgram?

Cobb County Schools use the Fitnessgram testing protocol. Fitnessgram is a comprehensive health-related fitness and activity assessment and computerized reporting system.
Fitnessgram tests the five health components of fitness which are:

Aerobic capacity/ Cardiovascular endurance: The Pacer Test
Body Composition: Body Mass Index (BMI)A calculation of the ratio of weight to height.
Muscular Endurance: Curl Up
Muscular Strength: Push Ups

Flexibility: Sit and Reach Test

To all Still Elementary Parents of Physical Education Students:

Still Elementary Fitnessgram assessments will be done with our students once at the beginning of the school year, and again at the end of the year.
Parents play an important role in shaping children's physical and dietary habits. This report will help you evaluate your child's current level of health-related fitness and help

you identify ways to promote healthy lifestyles in your family.
Our Physical Education Department activities throughout the school year are designed to help students grow and improve in their physical fitness levels.

We look forward to a productive and enjoyable year with your children.

Welcome to the gym!  We are the largest classroom in the school.  It is super important that students wear tennis shoes on their PE days.  As a friendly reminder, we do not tie tennis shoes after Christmas Break.
